All About Animals

The Uvita area has a huge appeal to its visitors, largely due to the abundant wildlife. One of the tourism books mentions the "riot of life" that can be seen here. Animals abound. Everybody wants to know about the snakes, the bugs, the monkeys, toucans, sloths, whales and dolphins. Well, here ya go. Living here we bump into these things on a daily basis. The challenge for the residents of the area is to never take it for granted: "oh, there goes ANOTHER toucan (yawn)" - no, no, no. Its amazing to be able to live amongst, and the visit, and area so rife with life.

In addition to the wildlife, we would like to support the local domestic animals as well. In Uvita there is a wonderful animal clinic that serves as a sort of hub of animal care. You can see the page for the domestics by clicking here. Dr. Fernando is in attendance. We'll be keeping a list of adoptable animals here, as well as keep you up on local animal happenings, such as neutering clinics and so on.

There is a huge influx of relocators moving to the Uvita area. We have the opportunity here to do development right. We are hoping to see the trees come back with a vengeance, the monkeys, toucans, macaws, pizotes etc. proliferate from responsible development, and along the way, help our domestic friends to live an enriched life as well.

Looking forward to the time we finally relocate to beautiful CR~

We are so excited about finding 'true paradise' within UVITA~ Once our Bungalows are complete[under construction now] we hope to be able to stay in them so that when the time comes for us to begin building our primary residence in UVITA we will be able to bring forth the reality of our 'DREAM"~ To be able to give back to beautiful Costa Rica I hope to give life to a Rescue/Release on our property, where we can aid the critters needing the assistance to return to the freedom within the land from which they thrive. Having a medical background along with some knowledge of Exotics [have exotic birds]I hope to one day be able to make this dream come true. Giving the Toucans with broken beaks another chance, as well as all the other critters who may need a little help & protection until they are well enough to return to thier natural environment. Hopefully, I will be successful in working with local vets & others who are knowledgable in areas of first aid etc... We are looking forward to meeting others who will be our neighbors & hopefully our friends! This site is an excellent beginning for all of us to correspond & build longlasting relationships, as well as building strong bonds to jointly strive towards similar goals which will enhance the environment & beauty that Costa Rica represents so proudly!

Hey neighbor!

Hey Sandy!

Good morning! Sounds like your heart's in the right place. The development of the Central Southern Pacific zone must have a strong voice for the environment. A haven for the inhabitants of our environment is essential and it's great to see you're becoming part of that. While I'm a strong proponent of the "flora", being a landscape contractor, I too am fond of the wildlife that is a big part of life here. Hats off to you and your efforts!!
My partner & I have just closed on a view lot in Aug. We're now in the midst of the planning phase. We too are interested in constructing 3 cabinas and a main residence. We're right up the road from Hotel Cristal Ballena in Brisas del Mar. How about yourself? We'll be in town for about 9 days in late April early May.
Should you have a strong architect or builder referal we would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Look forward to hearing from you!
"Enjoy the Animals!!"

Question for MsSmurfy

Hi MsSmurfy,

Do you intend to offer any sort of domestic animal refuge here? There is a HUGE need for it. My gal Natalie is very interested in working with you on the domestic side of things. She already has a relationship with Doc. Fernando, a local vet here in Uvita that has a hearth the size of a Volkswagen, but he and Nat can only do so much. So if your plans include domestics, this would be... well... smurfy :o)

Thanks!
