Local Little Theatre Biz
The first play by a Latino writer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama will receive its first production in Costa Rica this February when Dominical Little Theatre stages Nilo Cruz’s ANNA IN THE TROPICS February 15th, 17th, 22nd and 24th at Hotel Roca Verde. Our annual Dress Rehearsal Gala takes place February 14th, Valentine’s Day and the sumptuous dinner will be hosted by Restaurante Confusione. This promises to be a very special event.
ANNA IN THE TROPICS is a celebration of both the beauty and the power of language. Its story, about the transforming effect of literature, uses some of the most poetic dialogue written for the stage. In 1929, one of the few remaining Cuban-American "lectors" arrives at a cigar factory in Florida to read daily installments of Anna Karenina to the workers. As he brings Tolstoy’s epic novel to life for the laborers, their lives begin to change under the influence of the book’s sensual intrigues.
The production’s cast includes Amanda Rodriguez and Sean Gallagher, both making their DLT debut. Also starring: Daryl Wallace, Millie Plowman, Victoria Hughes, Frank Witte, Gino Tubito, and Willie Montoya.
In order to provide a more intimate experience, seating has been reduced from prior years so don’t be disappointed by waiting until too late to buy your tickets.

Glad to see the Arts arrive to the Southern Zone!
These types of activities make the area a lot more livable to me. All the natural beauty, people, and restaurants are great, but sometimes I want to catch a movie, play, or hear live music. Maybe a library will be next? The best part is, in the Uvita area you can *participate* in these things instead of just being in the audience. Victoria is my sister - what play is planned for July?!
